Andre T. Nguyen, PhD
Andre Nguyen is currently the Chief Scientist of AI Security & Red Teaming at Booz Allen Hamilton, helping commercial and global government clients to assess their machine learning security posture and to identify and mitigate exploitable vulnerabilities in their machine learning models, systems, and pipelines. As Booz Allen’s AI Security Stack’s technical lead, Andre also focuses on capitalizing machine learning research and development into scalable nontraditional revenue streams. Andre was previously the director of machine learning at JURA Bio, Inc., a biotech focusing on developing and delivering cell-based therapies for the treatment of autoimmune and immune-related neurodegenerative disease. Before JURA, Andre was a machine learning researcher at Booz Allen Hamilton working primarily on adversarial defense, cybersecurity, and synthetic data research. At Booz Allen, Andre also architected cloud data platforms and delivered for clients in the pharmacovigilance space.
In addition to his primary job, Andre is a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering at UMBC and collaborates on computational epidemiology research with Mauricio Santillana.
Andre completed a PhD in Computer Science at UMBC through the Laboratory for Physical Sciences and a Bachelor’s in Applied Mathematics summa cum laude at Harvard. At UMBC, Andre was supervised by Edward Raff and Charles Nicholas. At Harvard, Andre was advised by Finale Doshi-Velez and Mauricio Santillana. Andre is also currently pursuing an MBA part-time.
